What’s the Best Set of Golf Clubs? Titleist AP1 Irons

in

The Rankmark.com irons test reveals the best golf clubs set as the Titleist AP1 irons. There’s not a remarkable difference in the appearance between the AP1 and the AP2 irons. The AP1 irons are for higher handicappers (but not necessarily high handicappers), and are made of stainless steel, whereas the AP2 irons are made of forged carbon steel.

The AP1s have a tungsten nickel box covering the lower cavity. This simply means that they’re adding a high density metal to the lower part of the club to lower the center of gravity, which makes it easier to get the ball in the air. Due to the weight distribution, the AP1s are more forgiving than the AP2s.

Here’s a short video that speaks more about both the AP1 and AP2 irons:

The top 5 finishers in the irons test

The AP1 irons ranked as the most accurate irons, 4th in forgiveness, tied for 1st in feel, and 1st among low handicappers.

There were 21 entries in the irons test. After seeing the results, I’d have to say Ping irons would probably receive the honorable mention. Here’s the list of competitors:

Titleist pretty much has the corner on the golf equipment market. Titleist golf clubs are the most popular on tour, with their Scotty Cameron line of putters, their Vokey wedges, and clearly they have good irons. They’re a little less dominant with their drivers, fairway woods and hybrids, consistently ranking as only the 2nd most popular driver on tour behind TaylorMade. They also, by far, have the most popular ball on the PGA tour.
