Sean O’Hair won the Quail Hollow Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina on Sunday. Sean plays TaylorMade golf clubs, except for one Cleveland lob wedge. Quail Hollow’s finishing holes are referred to as the green mile, and are very tough finishing holes. In spite of taking bogey on each of the last 2 holes, O’Hair won by one stroke over Lucas Glover.
Sean plays the TaylorMade R9 driver, and although I don’t have an accurate count, it seems that the relatively new R9 is played by a little bit more than the TaylorMade Burner, which is also very popular on the PGA tour. TaylorMade clubs are the most popular, both for amateurs and pros.
Here’s what O’Hair had in his bag this week:
| Driver |
TaylorMade R9 10.5°, Mitsubishi Diamana Blue 73-gram shaft |
| Fairway Woods |
3-wood: TaylorMade R9 13°, TaylorMade R7 17.5° |
| Irons |
TaylorMade Tour Preferred |
| Wedges |
TaylorMade rac 48°, 50°, 54°, Cleveland CG12 60° |
| Putter |
TaylorMade Rossa Monza Corza |
It was a really tense finish. I thought O’Hair gave it away when he 3-putted the last hole, but it’s such a tough course. Glover bogeyed the par-3 17th hole. In case you didn’t get to see it, the 17th hole is a long par 3, and it seems the green has water on about half of its left perimeter. Both Glover and O’Hair hit 5-iron, and ended in nearly the same spot to the right of the green. They both had tough chips, and neither of them was able to put it that close, and they both 2 putted for their bogey.
Here’s a wrapup of the exciting 4th round:
