Lee Westwood got his first set of Ping golf clubs when he was a teen-ager in the mid-eighties. He’s been playing Pings ever since his junior golf days, and he’s become Europe’s number one player, and the 2009 European Tour money leader. He’s ranked 4th in the world.
The agreement includes wearing a Ping hat and carrying a Ping bag, and is a multi-year contract.
Westwood won the Race to Dubai by 6 strokes, with his bag containing 100% Ping clubs:
| Driver | G10 |

When news like this hits, the company will put out a press release. It’s kind of funny to read such a press release, because it seems that most of the time, the press release includes quotes from all the people involved in the story. I suppose sometimes these quotes are genuine, but most of the time the author of the press release simply makes up quotes. I’m not saying that the individuals who are quoted don’t believe the quotes that have been put in their mouth. I’m just saying that the company is trying to sell product, and a quality press release includes juicier or at least more self-serving quotes than the guy involved might usually naturally give.
Angel Cabrera is another big name who plays Ping clubs. He won the 2009 Masters when Kenny Perry gave it away.
My friend in high school played Ping Eye 2 irons. He was a really good player, and won a lot of high school and junior golf tournaments. They were really cool at the time, and innovative design when they were new.
