TaylorMade golf clubs take Y.E. Yang to victory at the PGA Championship held at Hazeltine in Minnesota. It was a tremendous upset of Tiger Woods, who led by 2 strokes after 54 holes, but blew his 54 hole lead for the first time in a major championship.
Nike golf clubs has stayed in the race to see which golf clubs company will have the most victories at the end of the season, only by the grace of Tiger Woods. Without his 5 wins, Nike would be in a distant 3rd place behind Titleist. Here’s the tally for the winning clubs on tour by brand so far this season:

The Nike Method Putter will be released in limited quantities to the public starning November 1st. This putter was used by both Lucas Glover to win the U.S. Open and Stewart Cink to win the British Open. At the time the putter they used was just listed as a Nike prototype.

It’s tough to determine what the best putter on the market might be. Generally, a putter head with a high moment of inertia is good, because if you slightly mis-hit the ball, the ball is less likely to cause the putter head to twist, sending the ball in the wrong direction. The USGA has a maximum allowable moment of inertia, and there is no shortage of putters that push that limit. While putters tend to be a personal thing, Rankmark.com’s putter test revealed that there were clear favorites among the testers.

Tiger Woods has single-handedly kept Nike golf clubs in the race to see which golf clubs company will have the most victories at the end of the season. Without his 4 wins, Nike would be in a distant 3rd place behind Titleist. Here’s the tally for the winning clubs on tour by brand so far this season:

Tom Watson did great a couple weeks ago at the British Open. Now he comes out with a wild idea.
“If I were commissioner for a day or if were commissioner for 10 years, I would do three things: I would roll the golf ball back 10 percent, I'd get rid of square grooves, and they're going to do that in the States, and the other thing is I would reduce the size of the head of the driver, say you can't have it 460 (cc); you can have it 240 or 250, and that's it.”

Sooner or later, we all struggle with our driver. Right now, you may love your driver. You may hit it 300 yards down the middle every time, and sleep with your driver under your pillow. But I can guarantee that at some point, you’ll start hooking it into the weeds. I don’t know why that happens, but it always has and it always will.

Apparently little towns in the middle of nowhere aren’t immune to golf club thieves. On Wednesday night, someone broke into Rose’s Golf Shop at the country club in Lusk, Wyoming. Police found a broken window and door, and $5,000 worth of missing equipment.
This is the biggest loss the club has to thieves. In the last break-in, the thieves took alcohol in 2006. Police have no suspects.
Here’s a riddle for you: A Toronto native won the Canadian Open, but Canadians are disappointed that a Canadian didn’t win the Canadian Open. How can that be? Well, it’s not that hard to figure out, but it is an unlikely occurrence. Nathan Green is from Toronto, Australia, and his TaylorMade golf clubs took him to his first PGA tour victory.
Stewart Cink took his Nike clubs to Scotland, and is coming home with an extra claret jug for his first major victory. He beat Tom Watson in a 4 hole playoff. Cink birdied the 72nd hole to even get into the playoff, and then played great in the playoff, making 2 birdies.
Of course, most people were rooting for Tom Watson who at the age of 59 was the story of the week. Who would have expected such an old-timer to compete? Watson has already won the British Open 5 times, and even though I was rooting for him, I’m happy for Cink.
